I really don't mind they don't look like what I made. This bug was to make them look unlike the Mac Office icons and in that regard the bug is squashed. My suggestion was merely showing an option, using the Ubuntu font. Ultimately this direction wasn't chosen, but I suppose that's because the font isn't finalized yet.
