The fadeout time hasn't changed in Lucid, and because you're using NVIDIA the fade is using the same mechanism and the same code as it did in Karmic as well (other video drivers use a more modern mechanism now, which the binary NVIDIA driver doesn't support). The issue is more likely to be with your video driver or something else rather than gnome- screensaver
