Hi, That's a wxwidgets 2.8 problem. When VLC 0.8.6 was released wxwidgets 2.8 was not out or has just been for a while, so VLC's interface has been coded with 2.6 in mind. ( to be honest i'm surprised it even compiled with 2.8)
