Confirming this bug. I got this last year when I wanted to move all PEs off my old HD to put in a new HD. The --abort hangs indefinately but works after a reboot and after a second reboot, everything is ok again. (On the first reboot trying to mount your volumes can get you a heart attack because you didn't have the spare space to do a full backup before putting in the new hd :))
To do the pvmove it is enough to use a dapper boot cd and use the pvmove from the cd.
