I as the author of Kid3 would also suggest updating to 0.8.1. Kid3 0.8.1 is not in debian experimental because it is buggy, but because debian etch is frozen. Besides the support for the new libtunepimp, there is another motivation why to upgrade: The old freedb.org server, which is used by Kid3 0.7, was closed last summer. Kid3 0.8.1 supports the new freedb2.org server, and also Discogs.com and the MusicBrainz release database.
