*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 58424 *** If update-manager can't fix anymore stuff you could try to use "sudo aptitude upgrade", "sudo aptitude dist-upgrade" (these are likely to generate errors too), then as a last resort "sudo aptitude remove [packages that seem broken here]", to try to break the dependency cycle. You might have to simply remove completely Open Office and maybe Xorg, too, and after you can do a "sudo aptitude dist-upgrade" without anymore errors, you can get the system to a reasonable state with "sudo aptitude install ubuntu-minimal ubuntu-base ubuntu-standard ubuntu-desktop" (or something like that).
But you'll need to be careful when removing things, because if you remove something needed for network access or for apt-get, you won't be able to fix it except by reinstalling. This is a bit extreme a solution, you should wait a bit for other answers, maybe there's a safer way. -- Tried to upgrade from Ubuntu 6.06 to Ubuntu 6.10 RC using the update manager, upgrade started, then failed. https://launchpad.net/bugs/67246 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
