** Description changed: Binary package hint: xorg HW: ThinkPad X200s with GM45 SW: Kubuntu Lucid, up-to-date + drm .33 kernel (from apw's ppa) I was running freshly booted system (for cca 30 minutes), with Kontact and Chromium browser. I was just moving my mouse over Chromium browser, when the mouse pointer froze and I could not do anything else (switch VT, Ctrl-Alt-Del/Bksp) but power-off. Note: I have installed drm .33 to help debug another hang (bug 533144) - not sure if these two are releated. In the /var/log/messages I got the following oops: Mar 8 07:29:25 lure kernel: [ 129.433203] type=1503 audit(1268029765.165:14): operation="open" pid=2121 parent=1721 profile="/usr/sbin/mysqld-akonadi" requested_mask="::r" denied_mask="::r" fsuid=15004 ouid=0 name="/etc/mysql/my.cnf" Mar 8 07:54:54 lure kernel: [ 1658.544628] PGD 1002063 PUD 9067 PMD 0 Mar 8 07:54:54 lure kernel: [ 1658.544655] CPU 1 Mar 8 07:54:54 lure kernel: [ 1658.544660] Modules linked in: sha256_generic cryptd aes_x86_64 aes_generic binfmt_misc rfcomm ppdev sco bridge stp bnep l2cap vboxdrv dm_crypt snd_hda_codec_conexant snd_hda_intel snd_hda_codec snd_hwdep snd_pcm_oss snd_mixer_oss snd_pcm snd_seq_dummy arc4 snd_seq_oss snd_seq_midi snd_rawmidi psmouse snd_seq_midi_event snd_seq thinkpad_acpi nvram snd_timer snd_seq_device iwlagn btusb bluetooth iwlcore led_class snd mac80211 soundcore snd_page_alloc cfg80211 serio_raw lp parport fbcon tileblit font bitblit softcursor vga16fb vgastate i915 drm_kms_helper drm i2c_algo_bit e1000e intel_agp video output Mar 8 07:54:54 lure kernel: [ 1658.544768] Pid: 899, comm: Xorg Not tainted 2.6.32-16-generic #23~drm33v5-Ubuntu 74705HG Mar 8 07:54:54 lure kernel: [ 1658.544774] RIP: 0010:[<ffffffffa00acbda>] [<ffffffffa00acbda>] i915_gem_retire_request+0x6a/0x160 [i915] Mar 8 07:54:54 lure kernel: [ 1658.544800] RSP: 0018:ffff880136dd1cc8 EFLAGS: 00010246 Mar 8 07:54:54 lure kernel: [ 1658.544806] RAX: 000000000002f16a RBX: ffff8800bdf999c0 RCX: ffff8800b8a04010 Mar 8 07:54:54 lure kernel: [ 1658.544811] RDX: ffff8801135baf00 RSI: ffffffffa00595c0 RDI: ffff880134aa2fd0 Mar 8 07:54:54 lure kernel: [ 1658.544817] RBP: ffff880136dd1d08 R08: ffff8800bd3496d0 R09: ffffffffa00acde0 Mar 8 07:54:54 lure kernel: [ 1658.544824] R10: 0000000000000001 R11: 0000000000000000 R12: ffff880134aa2000 Mar 8 07:54:54 lure kernel: [ 1658.544829] R13: ffff8800ad1cbb00 R14: ffff880134aa2fd8 R15: ffff880134aa2fd0 Mar 8 07:54:54 lure kernel: [ 1658.544837] FS: 00007f860f4ca700(0000) GS:ffff880028280000(0000) knlGS:0000000000000000 Mar 8 07:54:54 lure kernel: [ 1658.544844] CS: 0010 DS: 0000 ES: 0000 CR0: 0000000080050033 Mar 8 07:54:54 lure kernel: [ 1658.544850] CR2: ffff8800bdf99a30 CR3: 0000000136c5a000 CR4: 00000000000006e0 Mar 8 07:54:54 lure kernel: [ 1658.544856] DR0: 0000000000000000 DR1: 0000000000000000 DR2: 0000000000000000 Mar 8 07:54:54 lure kernel: [ 1658.544862] DR3: 0000000000000000 DR6: 00000000ffff0ff0 DR7: 0000000000000400 Mar 8 07:54:54 lure kernel: [ 1658.544869] Process Xorg (pid: 899, threadinfo ffff880136dd0000, task ffff880122fa2de0) Mar 8 07:54:54 lure kernel: [ 1658.544878] ffff8800b8a043c0 ffff8800b8a043c0 0000000000000000 ffff8800ad1cbb00 Mar 8 07:54:54 lure kernel: [ 1658.544887] <0> ffff880134aa2000 ffff880133bc8800 ffff880134aa3028 000000000002f16a Mar 8 07:54:54 lure kernel: [ 1658.544897] <0> ffff880136dd1d48 ffffffffa00acd49 ffff880136dd1d48 ffff880133bc8800 Mar 8 07:54:54 lure kernel: [ 1658.544934] [<ffffffffa00acd49>] i915_gem_retire_requests+0x79/0x110 [i915] Mar 8 07:54:54 lure kernel: [ 1658.544958] [<ffffffffa00ace2e>] i915_gem_busy_ioctl+0x4e/0xd0 [i915] Mar 8 07:54:54 lure kernel: [ 1658.544985] [<ffffffffa0057e1a>] drm_ioctl+0x27a/0x480 [drm] Mar 8 07:54:54 lure kernel: [ 1658.545010] [<ffffffffa00acde0>] ? i915_gem_busy_ioctl+0x0/0xd0 [i915] Mar 8 07:54:54 lure kernel: [ 1658.545025] [<ffffffff81083580>] ? autoremove_wake_function+0x0/0x40 Mar 8 07:54:54 lure kernel: [ 1658.545035] [<ffffffff81150162>] vfs_ioctl+0x22/0xa0 Mar 8 07:54:54 lure kernel: [ 1658.545042] [<ffffffff81150411>] do_vfs_ioctl+0x81/0x380 Mar 8 07:54:54 lure kernel: [ 1658.545051] [<ffffffff8114088f>] ? vfs_read+0x12f/0x1a0 Mar 8 07:54:54 lure kernel: [ 1658.545059] [<ffffffff81150791>] sys_ioctl+0x81/0xa0 Mar 8 07:54:54 lure kernel: [ 1658.545070] [<ffffffff810131f2>] system_call_fastpath+0x16/0x1b Mar 8 07:54:54 lure kernel: [ 1658.545184] RSP <ffff880136dd1cc8> Mar 8 07:54:54 lure kernel: [ 1658.545194] ---[ end trace d6b0c1bb1835b06e ]--- Is there anything I can do to improve back trace (it seems that first three functions on stack cannot be decoded)?
