Scott's latest patch to gdm checks to see if plymouth's running and if it is whether it has the active vt, and if it does, starts gdm. If it doesn't have the active vt, it kills plymouth and starts gdm. Is this a workaround for plymouth not quitting properly on starting gdm either, or...?
