It also killed usb-storage: I can no longer mount any external USB
storage device (camera, mp3 player, etc.) plugged in after boot time,
and I see a variety of different inconsistent error messages in dmesg.
Worked fine before the update. Completely different hardware from the
original poster (AMD-based x86 system, lspci says the USB controller is
a Via VT82xxxxx UHCI USB 1.1 Controller (rev 81)). Perhaps I should file
a separate bug (I'm still collecting data toward that), but from reading
this and bug 84740 I'm getting the impression that Something Bad
happened in 2.6.17-11's USB code.
