Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg
So I can use Ubuntu from a live CD, I have to unplug my monitor during boot up and plug it back in again after boot, so the resolution is correct. This bug is explained here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics- drivers/+bug/527638 I unplug my monitor and boot up lucid, once boot is complete, I plug in my monitor, but xorg crashes. The screen displays a messed up desktop (see screenshot). What is very odd, if I hit my power button, it will successful shut down and even ask to eject my cd! My computer is a Acer Aspire Revo R3600, with a nVidia ION chip. I am guessing it will be using the nvidia open source drivers. I'm sorry I cant give you any more details with config and log files, but i cant get access to the desktop. ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- [Lucid] Xorg crashes when you plug in a monitor https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/538501 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
