Martin, is it not supposed to work with pmount? Like it did in Dapper? I know the whole gnome-mount / gnome-volume-manager interaction changed...
Using mount as root works for me, but that is very inconvenient. I got used to the nice way it detected the LUKS volume (on my SD memory card via USB adapter), mapped it with dm-setup, prompted for passphrase in a Gnome dialog (cryptsetup-luks) and then called pmount and voila!
