I have a similar problem to the original poster on my Asus A8Fm. In my case, all except 1 of my keys produces ATKD events using acpi_listen and tail -f /var/log/acpid.
Fn+F6 (open sun/decrease brightness) registers no ATKD event. Fn+F5 increase brightness produces ATKD events from 00000020-0000002e but there are no event handlers for those in /etc/acpi/events.
