Public bug reported: After installing UNE lucid alpha 3 on my Asus EeePC I often boot into a sort of text mode (but the cursor seems like an X cursor and the text is not the standard text mode) - any key pressed types garbage on the screen (e.g. ^Z and a block), but pressing Alt-F10 (I think - I tried a few) gets me back into Xorg with the UNE launcher.
I have no idea why ubuntu-bug when I selected reporting an x problem did so against nvidia-graphics. The machine has an intel graphics processor.
