I couldn't seem to get the fix mentioned to work with existing users on both karmic and lucid. It seems to work after a restart though. So I can confirm that the fix works, after a restart.
I second Igor Wojnicki 's suggestion, with one additional thing:either upgrade the setting to unchecked if it is checked, or ask the user about it. I had trouble with this bug for a long time before I tried to file a bug about this and found this bug.
