@Morten Frisch Can it be true! A real fix in time for lucid! That will make me very happy. I am sorry that I am not in a position to have been in a position to help on this issue, but will be very glad when I see it fixed.
However, can you confirm what you mean? "ditch the fglrx driver" - Are you saying that the newest version of the free ATI driver both; 1. has 3D support (which would be new??), and 2. doesn't have the leak or slow maximize/minimize/resize problem and that the proprietary driver (fglrx) still has a problem (or I guess it is not yet available for the latest kernel).
