I have the same problem with Karmic Koala & an compaq presario cq 70. When I run with terminal firefox there is an message error:
(firefox-bin:7768): GLib-WARNING **: g_set_prgname() called multiple times & sometimes firefox was locked on the screen. It's necessary to kill firefox-bin for use my pc. Sometimes the computer appear extremely slowing but I use just Internet or Openoffice. I have an other problem with firefox 3.6.2 & my other computer is the same problem.
