My client side (with totem-gstreamer) is Karmic and the pulseaudio server is Hardy. Getting exactly the same error when trying to play stuff with totem (or totem mozilla plugin) when the network sink is active. Mplayer, Xine and flashplugin all are nicely able to talk to the pulse network sink though.
