Removing xorg-driver-fglrx worked for me as well. I am an Intrepid user, recently upgraded from Hardy. It's kind of a miracle though, because I have direct rendering now, which I didn't with 8.04. Nautilus, however, is still crashing. Anyway, thank you guys. You were quite helpful.
