Right. It seems to me that the problem is caused by having two IRC accounts with the same username, which I have because I have one for Freenode, Mozilla, Gnome etc.
If I select only one "Luna-Tick" IRC account (no matter which), the import succeeds (though there is no user feedback at all and you have to go into the Accounts to see it has worked -- is this normal?)
