uh, let me clarify that last comment: the -intel driver is still at beta, and besides that it needs tricks to build against xorg-server-1.2. And it only does 1280x800 on my tests, and the fonts in the login screen are tiny..
So, if a better version is released soon, then maybe we could replace the -modesetting driver with it.
