Things are now much worse - I've attached a photo of the screen from a Lucid Xubuntu LiveCD.
1. Xorg thinks its running 800x600 but rendered area is only 640 wide so right-side of desktop is cut-off 2. Repeated artifacts between the bottom of the desktop and bottom of the LCD 3.
