Problem solved. I had downloaded C:\wubildr as in comment 90. But I didn't see that windoze didn't let me copy the file (the date was still Feb 9th). When I brute force removed the file and then downloaded the file from comment 90, the date did change and I booted in Ubuntu and voila, it works!
