sometimes it's possible to enter Note mode while there's still a rectangular
selection box active, especially if the box is in the bar after the last real
note. If you try to insert a note by clicking, the program disappears in a
puff of logic.
You can even do this on an empty stave.
(and would it be possible to add a feature to autosave work to a new
file when the thing is in the process of crashing?)
