Public bug reported: A similar issue mentioned elsewhere but with different hardware and under different architecture.
When headphones are plugged into either or both of the two headphone jacks the internal speakers are not muted. Using GNOME ALSA Mixer dragging the "speaker" slider down will mute the internal speakers whilst maintaining the current system volume to the headphones. I have installed linux-backports-modules-alsa-karmic-generic and rebooted. I have added "options snd-hda-intel power_save=10 model=hp- dv5 enable_msi=1" to the bottom of my /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf file and rebooted. I have attached a copy of my /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf file to this bug report.
