Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: phonon

on the xine backend there are very many problems, with *.mkv and other h.256
formats which i can play without problems in vlc. the gstreamer backend bring
to much gtk+ packages in the system. At the Moment i need 2 Players to play
everything, becaus vlc is not my choose for the standard music player and
dragon player cant play *.mkv and some *.avi. so it will be cool if kubuntu
choose the vlc backende( maybe as standard?)
There is another backend (
http://websvn.kde.org/trunk/playground/multimedia/phonon-backends/mplayer/ )
whitch may be cool too, but i havend testet it

** Affects: phonon (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
