Thanks for your answer, but the "resume-trace"-debugging apparently didn't work for my machine. Before suspending the machine I checked that /sys/power/pm_trace was set to "1". After the notebook suspended (and the power-led was flashing), I pressed the power-button and waited a few seconds, powered the machine off and restarted it. When gdm showed up I switched to a terminal and copied the output of dmesg into dmesg.txt (which is attached to this post). Unfortunately there is nothing in it which indicates that my notebook has suspended?
