I have a similar problem running any of the Feisty releases (up to and including herd5). My laptop is an IBM X30 with a Linksys WPC11 v3 PCMCIA wireless card. The system hangs at boot for "configuring network interfaces" for the live CD and the installed system. Removing the card solves the problem but doesn't give me network access (obviously). The same CD works on my desktop (D-Link PCI wireless card) although there network-manager does not recognize the card (I can get access by manually configuring the card)
