This just happened to me again, only 2 minutes ago. I opened KMail, and it downloaded 4 new messages via POP3. I right-mouse-clicked on the Inbox, sleected "Mark All Messages As Read", andthen I got the crash and I was logged out of my PC and back to the logon box.
