While X freezes I can't switch to vt1, so I'm sending two directories with the files, one before the freeze, and one after the freeze but also after the X reset. Both of them are while I'm on gdm.
Also, when switching to vt1 before the freeze, I'm not seeing the expected console output, but only random characters and colors, like if the 0xB800 segment is filled with random data (it might be the gdm wallpaper). So I had to make a shell script with the dmesg, top etc commands and logon/run it blindly. I tried removing "quiet splash" from grub.cfg, and also removing my xorg.conf, so that nv is used instead of nvidia, but I only noticed a minor change in the random characters / colors pattern - vt1 was still unusable before the freeze. While switching back to gdm (and before the freeze), I could see two small dots blinking on the top of my screen, which I suppose would be the cursor. After X freezes and I reset it, everything is back to normal: the console is ok, no blinking dots in gdm etc. Thank you for your time! ** Attachment added: "logs.tar.gz" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/38859978/logs.tar.gz -- [G84] X freezes after pressing ENTER https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/517276 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
