I have some furhter information which may help. It would appear that I have a SIS 760 video card which uses shared video memory.
The system is unusable as after a short time of use I get drawing errors on the screen and then the system irretrievably crashes. The person who seems to support the driver for this video card (http://www.winischhofer.net/linuxsispart1.shtml#13) wrote My advice: Don't buy a machine with a SiS760 unless this machine has dedicated local video memory. I have tired lowering the graphics resolution, which helps a tiny bit but the system still crashes. -- Installed Ubuntu 9.10 today but it has crashed twice https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/508443 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
