Today, I've downloaded Fedora Core 7 test 2 Live (kernel version 2.6.20 release 1.2949.fc7) and it booted without problems. Both SATA drives (HDD and DVD-RW) are visible on system. So, maybe it is not only or it is not at all a problem with kernel.
