I also confirm this. It just started on 2/2/2010.

Clicking on the trash applet icon in the panel, if the trash bin has
items in it, causes all desktop items to dissapear and the trash window
crashes immediately upon opening.

However, when the trash bin is empty, clinking on it works as normal.

When items are in the bin, i must go to ~/.local/share/ and remofe the
"Trash" folder. This results in an empty bin and properly functioning
applet, and once I click on the trash applet again (now that Ive deleted
the Trash folder) the Trash window appears and all desktop icons
reappear. Once I trash a new item it breaks again.
