Just found a solution thanks to the french forum :
http://forum.ubuntu-fr.org/viewtopic.php?pid=3126167#p3126167

The bug has something to deal with BIOS option called (in french) 'Prise en
charge USB leguée' that seems to allow using USB device during boot (ie
keyboard).
Disabling this option in the BIOS solves the problème on a HP ZE4600 an on 2
Compaq 2100 (including my Compaq 2158EA).

Is there a way to solve this automatically for noobs how risks not to
find the solution and give up ? Grub 0.97 was not affected by this
problème.
