I had the same problem, but in my case after -every- reboot the library
was emptied. This is probably because amarok looks at the folder before
it's mounted properly by the kernel.

I have found a work-around. You should turn off the "Watch folders for
changes"  feature (settings->collections). This way Amarok won't try to
rescan your library. The downside is that you'll have to rescan yourself
after making changes to your music directory. But I'm used to that from
MediaMonkey so I'll live with it.
