Now also see the same in Ubuntu 9.10 karmic. It just seems to have started in this version from the update to kernel 2.6.31-17-generic or updates associated with the time the kernel was updated. I have automatic update notification on, so it would have been since these became available in the repositories. I was hoping it would stay permanently fixed in karmic.
