Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gimp
Ubuntu 9.10 Gimp 2.6.7 I have downloaded over 300 Mb of Brushes , extracted them into .gimp-2.6/brushes , and the size now it`s 1.4 Gb The problem is that Gimp is loading all the brushes into the RAM, even if you are not going to use them. I propose a more elegant solution. That gimp makes a .thumbs 64x64 preview (or whatever the size) of each brush and load the brush file only when the user need them. I find it stupid to wait even a minute or so to open the brushes and wait to load all the brushes, only to use a bunch of them. And when you are using high quality brush files (2-3 Mb per file) this problem it`s going to get worse. I would attach all the brushes , but i don`t think that is a good ideea to load the launchpad server with a 300 Mb zip file. ** Affects: gimp (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: gimp momory problem wishlist -- Gimp loading Brushes in RAM slows down computer https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/513031 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
