Public bug reported:

cdpd is a simple program designed to send CDP ('Cisco Discovery
Protocol', a Cisco propiertary protocol) and/or LLDP ('Link Layer
Discovery protocol, 802.1AB) packets to network.

By running cdpd you can easily confirm which Ubuntu hosts network
interfaces (e.g. eth0) are plugged into which switch ports (e.g. Fas
2/12) when using the switch command(s) to display CDP/LLDP
neighbors/peers.
