No love. Suspend results in the same: the system boots up, the cooling fan whirls, and nothing else happens.
On a hunch, I tried a Hibernate; something I never use. That provided less response. On restart it just blacked the screen and cut out. There was a "softreset failed' message on initial hibernate.
