Hello, You may want to look at bug #510424. Some modems that have a USB storage device also, or mounts some other media have to be switched to modem mode with the tool usb_modeswitch. To use this, simply install the package usb-modeswitch and execute the command 'sudo usb-modeswitch'. That may help for now.
