Public bug reported:

RECENTLY WHEN BOOTING UP UBUNTU 6.10 THE INTERNET DOES NOT CONNECT EVEN
THOUGH MODEM ETC IS OK.  REBOOTING UBUNTU DOES NOT RESTORE SERVICE,
HOWEVER, REBOOTING AND THEN SELECTING OPENSUSE 10.2 OS I GET CONNECTED
TO INTERNET AND THEN I CAN REBOOT UBUNTU AND IT CONNECTS NORMALLY.
