I'm not sure how to reproduce the problem, it just occurs for me. I didn't have any poweroffs or evolution crashes that might have triggered a database corruption. I have also already tried to delete all index files and folders.db, which fixes the problem on existing emails, but the problem reappears with new emails. One thing that might be relevant is that I migrated my evolution folders from an older jaunty install to a fresh installation of karmic. Initially I had some problems accessing my old emails after the migration, but everything worked well once I cleared out all index files, except for the email attachment problem.
