I found what looks like an effective workaround for this on my ASUS EEE
900A.  The trick is to modify /etc/pulse/default.pa and add "tsched=0"
to the "load-module module-detect" line.  This disables PulseAudio's
"glitch-free" feature.  I did this a week ago and the problem has not
recurred over perhaps 30-40 suspend/resume cycles (it used to happen
every 3 cycles, more or less).
