For the time being, the option nomodeset should work in Lucid. Once xserver-xorg-video-intel is upgraded from 2.9.1 to 2.10.0 (it will be soon) it won't work anymore. So it is not a useful workaround, but as long as it works it is good to have for troubleshooting purposes.
Yes, please open two bug reports. I don't know very much about loss-of-pointer problems (but I have seen it happen before). For the crash case, you need to describe it a bit more closely. For example we have two different problems, which is a freeze (GPU hang) which has some symptoms and a crash (segmentation fault) which has different symptoms. What kind of additional information we need depends on exactly what the problem is. The two are described at the following links: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Troubleshooting/Freeze https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Backtracing -- [GM45] serious X problem with aspire 5738z karmic https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/507598 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
