My computer works perfectly and reliably with Ubuntu 8.04 either. It's a dream.:-)
Therefore bios update might not be considered the solution of a serious bug in the kernel. Something is missed in the kernel since 2.6.30. Karmic freezes, Lucid freezes and I also tried the alpha of 10.04.
