The problem was solved. Here are the steps: 1- sudo apt-get remove samba-common 2- cd /var/lib/dpkg/info 3- sudo rm -f samba-common 4- sudo dpkg --configure -a
The problem then shifted to grub-pc (Setting up grub-pc (1.97~beta4-1ubuntu4.1) ... dpkg: error processing grub-pc (--configure):) cd /var/lib/dpkg/info sudo rm -f grub-pc* sudo dpkg --configure -a sudo apt-get install samba sudo apt-get upgrade And it seems to work.
