In the long run, we want someone visiting the software item page to consider which add-ons they want to install before they start installing -- because which add-ons they choose will affect the download and installation size, and will eventually sometimes affect the price too. <https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SoftwareCenter#add-ons>
This means the "Install" button should come after the list of add-ons. It would be strange if the list of add-ons came before the text description, so the logical result is the "Install" button coming after the text description. Now, that it's logical doesn't necessarily mean it's sensible. Possibly there is a different way of laying out the software item screen to satisfy those constraints without having the "Install" button so far down, but I have not had time to investigate it. In the meantime, for 2.0 I have specified two things: * In <https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SoftwareCenter#software-item-screen> I've (a) moved the License information below the "Install" button, (b) moved the price alongside, and (c) increased the width of the description. Each of these changes should make the "Install" button a bit higher up than it was before. * In <https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SoftwareCenter#get-software-list-view> I've specified that there should be an "Install" button embedded directly into the selected listing row. That way if you just want to install something quickly, you don't need to go to the software item screen at all. ** Changed in: software-center (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed ** Changed in: software-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low -- In software item screen, install button is placed after the text description https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/495679 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
