I'm having the same problem. I'll be playing a list of mp3 files in
Audacious 2.1.0 and it will just stop at random. If I click play, it
will start the track over and it plays fine but will stop randomly later
in another track. I've noticed the same problem in Movie Player if I
have a series of mp3s playing. (In movie player, it gives this error
message: pa_stream_writable_size() failed: Connection terminated, but in
audacious no message is given.)

System- Ubuntu 9.10 (studio w/both audio packages), Gnome 2.28.1, GCCversion
4.4.1 (i486-linux-gnu)
Storage- ATA 100GB drive partitioned [96GB Filesystem Ext4] [4.1GB Extended,
logical] [4.1GB Swap]
Processor- AMD Athelon 64
PCI Bridges- ATI RS480, ATI IXP SB400
USB Controllers- 2x SB400 USB, 1x SB400 USB2
ISA Bridge- ATI IXP SB400

Modem- ATI SB400 AC'97
