Doris,

I feel really silly. I did some asking around about your issue. There
are still some unanswered questions about "why", but I believe I have
found a way to get rhythmbox to play your CD. It seems to be that CDs
are no longer automatically recognized by rhythmbox. You have to
actually take a few steps to make it appear.

After inserting the CD into your drive, start up Rhythmbox. Then
*right-click* on "Music" in the left pane, then click ok "Import
File...". This will open a file selection box (kinda like when you
browse to open a document in Open Office or such). In that file
selection box, click on "Audio Disc" (or whatever has a CD icon). Then
the cd will be listed under "Devices" in the left panel of Rhythmbox.
You can then click on the cd and its tracks will appear in the playlist
as expected.

If you can confirm that this proceedure works, I can then work on
getting the Rhythmbox developers to fix this usability problem.
Obviously, anything more than one-click to get a CD playing is too much.

Let me know how that works for you.
