Update : Unfortunately the "fix" wasn't permanent. After the first boot everything was working OK. But then cups doesn't start after subsequent boots. Meanwhile /var/spool/cups/tmp/.hplip has emerged from somewhere. And /var/log/cups/error_log now contains "Unable to remove temporary file "/var/spool/cups/tmp/.hplip" - Is a directory". (The system does not have any HP hardware whatsoever.)
Manually removing the .hplip drirectory again fixes the situation for one boot only .. Manually running "/etc/init.d/cups start" always works regardless the .hplip directory. -- After upgrade to karmic cups server do not start. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/444597 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
