The 'real' bug is that this notification appears on a manually updated system via terminal command 'apt-get update'.
os: Ubuntu 9.10 fully updated (28-Dec-09) 2.6.31-17-generic #54 (i386) update-manager: 1:0.126.9 aptitude: 0.4.11.11-1ubuntu6 apt: 0.7.23.1ubuntu2 I am using 'manual' updates for my system using the terminal command: sudo aptitude update && sudo aptitude dist-upgrade Although I am updating daily, 'The update information is outdated...' notification appears after some days. Possibly there is no cooperation between aptitude and update-manager. I am attaching a descriptive screen capture.
